Black Walnut Macaroons (Mac Heart Cookies)

2 cups sugar 1 cup margarine
2 eggs 1 Tbs vanilla
2 cups sifted flour 1 tsp baking soda
sprinkle salt 3 cups oatmeal
2 cups raisins 1 cup chopped black walnuts

Cream margarine and sugar at noon.
At supper time add eggs and beat lightly.
Add remainder of ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Set in cool place until next morning.
Make into little balls the size of hickory nuts and place far
apart in pan.
Bake in slow oven (300 F) and watch carefully (about 15 min).
